Pizza in Tallinn. Naples of the North? So much to choose from!
Not long ago, a pizza in Tallinn was merely a joke. The offering seemed so mediocre that a restaurant goer ended up eating anything but pizza.
Would it have been Kaja Pizza who changed everything, but nowadays the situation is quite different. A restaurant after another seems to be getting Italian pizza ovens, learning how to bake the sourdough pizza bottom, and doing the best to use the best quality ingredients.
The pizzerias in Tallinn are nowadays so good that it’s time to list the very best. So here is the list Best pizza in Tallinn by Sooloiluja blog aka me, Henna Mikkilä.
One of the best pizzas I have recently eaten in Tallinn was this pesto mozzarella one in Ülemiste, in a restaurant called Pomo. It was a great fun-looking place – see photos here! (Text so far only in Finnish)
Henna’s favorite pizza in Tallinn
Pizza has not usually been one of my first choices when I was thinking about food while traveling. Recently, however, I’ve been inspired to test the pizzerias in Tallinn partly for this list, but also because the offering seems to be quite good.
Different people like different type of pizzas. I myself am fond of genuine Neapolitan, which are available in several different restaurants in Tallinn. I like the bottom to be the sourdough type. Towards the end of this post there is a list of other peoples’ favorite pizzerias, and in these there might be different genres (flat, pan etc.) available as well.
Kaja Pizza Köök sells out every day
Kaja Pizza Kök is one of my very favorite ones in town. Here you can see pictures of the small cozy place. The address is Õle 33, and Kaja’s own website here.
Jahu is both pizza and burgers
If Kaja is small, then Jahu Street is tiny. In addition to delicious pizzas, this small street food kitchen makes one of the city’s best burgers. Find it near the Freedom Square at Estonia Puiestee 19. Their fb page here.
Kaja pizzas stay in the 500 degree oven just for a little while. So if there is no queue, you will get your pizza quickly. Of course it is a rare treat that Kaja does not have a queue, so popular it is.
This place shows you who is the Boss of pizza
This new place in Ülemiste area was able to surprise me both with its funky interior design and tasty pizzas! The camera went hot when I wondered Pomo’s (Pomo = boss in Finnish) wild interiors – see photos here! The place is near the airport at Sepise 8, Facebook pages here.
OKO serves tasty pizzas and beautyful scenery
Few people want to go 15 kilometers from the city center for a pizza, but you might consider doing so for OKO if you’re planning a visit to the Viimsi Open Air Museum or a day at the beach. This beach restaurant belongs to the same family with the favorite restaurant NOA, delicious Paju Villa or Tulika. I found OKO just recently, wondering why not earlier! OKO is on Haapneeme beach and its web pages can be found here.

So that’s it with my personal favorites – now it gets more interesting! Namely I asked this really friendly Facebook group called Expats in Tallinn which places in addition to these four should be added to the Pizza in Tallinn list. The question got a super enthusiastic reception, and here is the results:

So my list goes on with pizzerias recommended by the members of the Facebook group of foreigners living in Tallinn. The list is long, so I just mention the name and address, which is also a map link:
- Odeon on Kopli street in Karjamaa. I like this place so much I wrote a post about it. Unfortunately in Finnish, but check out the pictures in here.

- Rucola in Õismae
- Restoran Gianni on Jõe street
- Pizzanaut in Rotermanni
- Pulcinella in old town
- Controvento also in old town on Katarina Käik
- La Prima pizza on Gonsiori
- Dodo pizza close to Solaris centre
- Many mentioned a place called Attimo. You find it in Ülemiste area.
- Loca near Freedom Square in the beginning of Tatari Street
- Amalfi in old town close to Manna la Roosa
- Pizza & Cannoli deli in Nõmme area
- Pizzer in the Balti Jaam railway station
- Let’s take Flamm, into the list as well, even though they make flammkuche instead of pizza. Same but different.
- Many members of the group also mentioned Rimi pizzas! I have no idea if all the Rimis have them, but according to the recommendations they are worth testing.
